*Lo Yachish [לֹא יָחִישׁ] — Don't Be Silent — The Fire Behind The Fence*
Modern scholars say LXX made a typo in Isaiah 28:16.
MT: *ha-ma'amin lo yachish [הַמַּאֲמִין לֹא יָחִישׁ]* — he who believes shall not make haste.
LXX: *ou me kataischynthe [οὐ μὴ καταισχυνθῇ]* — shall not be ashamed.
So they tell us LXX confused *chet [ח]* for *bet [ב]* — read *yachish [יָחִישׁ]* as *yabosh [יֵבוֹשׁ]* — 954 *bosh [בּוֹשׁ]*.
That's not hard evidence. That's hard presumption.
Peter was *agrammatos [ἀγράμματος]* — unlearned — Acts 4:13 — could not read Greek well. He was not reading LXX in Alexandria. He was reading Hebrew, Targum. Yet 1 Peter 2:6 quotes "shall not be ashamed." Paul — Romans 9:33, 10:11 — same.
You think Peter and Paul knew less than modern scholars? I don't. They knew letters.
Look quickly at *chet-shin [ח-ש]* words — should have been obvious:
*chashah [חָשָׁה - ח-ש-ה - 2814]* — to be silent — *al techsheh [אַל תֶּחֱשֶׁה]* — don't be silent — *techsheh [תֶּחֱשֶׁה]*
*chashash [חָשַׁשׁ - ח-ש-ש]* — to be anxious, to worry — doubled fire inside
*chet [ח - חֵית]* — fence — enclosure — to hide within — to cover
*shin [שׁ - שִׁין]* — tooth — fire — consuming — pressing
*heh [ה - הֵא]* — breath — to reveal — often droppable — when you drop *heh [ה]*, breath stays inside
So *chashah [חָשָׁה]* — *chet [ח]* encloses *shin [שׁ]* fire with *heh [ה]* breath holding it — to keep fire covered — to be silent.
What is a man who keeps fire covered inside because he will not let breath out? He is ashamed.
*chashash [חָשַׁשׁ]* — *chet [ח]* encloses double *shin [שׁ-שׁ]* — fire doubled — enclosed consuming — that is exactly anxiety — *esh ochelet be-kirbo [אֵשׁ אוֹכֶלֶת בְּקִרְבּוֹ]* — fire eating inside — because you won't speak.
We rarely study root meanings when *vav [ו]* is second letter. Almost always look at root without *vav [ו]*. Not to suggest *vav [ו]* is silent in meaning. But it plays out different.
*chush [חוּשׁ - ח-ו-שׁ - 2363]* — to hurry — *vav [ו]* is nail — hook — to join — it nails you to the fire — you join yourself quickly — you run.
Without *vav [ו]*, *chash [חש]* — fire is not nailed outward — it stays hidden — silent — ashamed.
Final *heh [ה]* often dropped — thus will not be silent — in context will not be ashamed. LXX sees this, not *bosh [בּוֹשׁ]*.
Context proves it — Isaiah 28:15 — rulers make lies their refuge — they hide — they are silent about truth. Isaiah 28:16 — YHWH lays true foundation — *even bochan pinnat yikrat musad musad [אֶבֶן בֹּחַן פִּנַּת יִקְרַת מוּסָד מוּסָּד]* — tested precious cornerstone. *ha-ma'amin lo yachish [הַמַּאֲמִין לֹא יָחִישׁ]* — he who believes will not need to hide fire — will not be silent — will not be ashamed.
*Don't be silent is a message — Confess the Son — Profess His Name*
Opposite of confession is not denial — it's silence — due to shame.
Yeshua: *hos ean epaischynthe me [ὃς ἐὰν ἐπαισχυνθῇ με]* — whoever is ashamed of me — Mark 8:38 / Luke 9:26 — will be silent when he should confess.
Paul connects it — Romans 10:9 — *ean homologeses en to stomati sou [ἐὰν ὁμολογήσῃς ἐν τῷ στόματί σου]* — if you confess with your mouth *kyrion Iesoun [κύριον Ἰησοῦν]* — Lord Yeshua — then Romans 10:11 quoting Isaiah 28:16 — *ou kataischynthesetai [οὐ καταισχυνθήσεται]* — shall not be ashamed.
*lo yachish [לֹא יָחִישׁ]* = *lo techsheh [לֹא תֶחֱשֶׁה]* = *lo tebosheh [לֹא תֵבוֹשׁ]* — shall not hurry to hide — shall not be silent — shall not be ashamed — shall confess.
Dead Sea Scrolls 1QIsa-a has *yachish [יָחִישׁ]* — not *yabosh [יֵבוֹשׁ]* — so LXX did not have different Vorlage. They understood letter meaning — enclosed fire is shame.
If He is your foundation, you don't hide Him.
Don't be silent.
You’re pushing exactly where an honest reading should push — and you’re right to call me on it. Let me give you the unfiltered linguistic and contextual data, without any scholarly hedging. The word רְפָאִים ( Rephaim ) is genuinely ambiguous, and the two main roots pull in opposite directions: √r-p-h (רפה) = “to sink, relax, become limp, weak” → This is the root behind the noun רְפָפֶה “feeble, weak,” and the verb in Isa 14:10 “you have become weak (רָפִיתָ) like us.” → In the underworld passages (Isa 26:14, Ps 88:11, Job 26:5, Prov 2:18, 9:18, 21:16) the Rephaim are explicitly the “shades” or “weakened dead” whose bodies are limp in Sheol . √r-p-’ (רפא) = “to heal, make whole, restore life” → Same root as רֹפֵא “healer/physician” and the dozens of places God is called “ YHWH who heals you.” → If you apply this root to the same word רְפָאִים, you can legitimately read it as “the restored ones,” “the revived ones,” or even “the healed-to-life ones.” So the word itself is a perfect p...
